Soda bread, potatoes, onions, shamrocks and the like are all discussed. The McFarlands touch on the Irish famine and the reason their ancestors made their way to Canada. Its a heavy subject, handled with the respect it deserves. Don't fear though, the usual Growing Season humour is not forgotten.
